I have practiced architecture since 1995. I was the Architect-in-Residence at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tucson and practiced architecture with BWS Architects, Ibarra Rosano Design Architects, and Rob Paulus Architects before producing the architectural work of Worker, Inc.
I design restaurants, apartments, zoos, and jails. My work has received awards from the American Institute of Architects, Sunset Magazine, the American Concrete Institute, Arizona Society of Landscape Architects, Metropolitan Pima Alliance, Custom Home Magazine, the Tucson Pima County Historic Commission, and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.
Architecture is complicated. I have my theories (let there be equality among men and women and let Program and Imagery create a stage for the betterment of the human condition!). I have my desires (I want buildings to be beautiful, gentle, and at peace with the world(s) around them through the use of Material/Craft, Form, and Siting). But, I also understand there are banks and contractors and users and codes and schedules.
And, there is the client. My number one role is to understand the wants, needs, desires, and goals of the client. If those align with my personal theories and desires, that is great. If not, I am still committed to producing the best possible architecture for the given parameters of the project.
